In 2020 we had some solid projects from many rap artists, young or veteran, almost everyone came through with amazing body of work. 2021 is also expected to go through the same route as long awaited album from King Kendrick is due. Dreamville head J. Cole has also shared some major news regarding his upcoming music recently, meanwhile Drake has already confirmed the title and the release date of next studio album. Below we take a look at 10 of the most anticipated hip-hop albums of 2021:
10. Cardi B – “Untitled”
Confirmation: Cardi B, who enjoyed major success in 2020 with her multiplatinum single “WAP,” featuring Megan Thee Stallion, revealed that she didn’t submit the song to Grammys because “I think my (upcoming) album is so good and it just means something and I worked on it a lot.”

9. Migos – “Culture III”
Confirmation: In December, Quavo announced the group involving himself, Offset and Takeoff is locked in studio and finishing up the third installment of “Culture” series which is also the final one. He also revealed group is looking forward to release a documentary.

8. Young Thug and YSL Records – “Slime Language 2”
Confirmation: On his last month interview with Complex Magazine producer Wheezy teased the project “Man, you can just expect a lot of hits, I’m just proud of the whole team, the growth, the news we have. Thug got his daughter a debut song on it. We got some of Thug’s new artists that’ll be on it. Also, it’s just a lot of good music.”
Recent Activity – Young Thug, Gunna and Yak Gotti teamed up for the first single off the album titled “Take It to Trial” which was produced by Wheezy.
7. Post Malone – “Untitled”
Confirmation – Hitmaker Post Malone has been working on new album since April last year. He also sat down with Complex where he says: “I’ve been recording a lot of new music for the album. Having the team here with me creating has been amazing. We have been experimenting with some new sounds and are really excited for the world to hear.”
Recent Activity – During NYE Post Malone performed live at Bud Light’s seltzer sessions.
6. Kanye West – “Donda” or “Jesus Is King 2”
Confirmation : Earlier in July, 2020, as usual, Kanye made his fans angered by not dropping previously announced album “Donda.” Rapper/Producer has also announced a Dr. Dre remix of his 2019 album “Jesus is king”.
Recent activity – Kanye’s Sunday Service released a project produced and composed by Ye himself on Christmas day.
5. Pusha T – “Untitled”
Confirmation – While appearing on an Instagram live chat with Steve Stoute, King Push confirmed his next album is dropping in the next 90 days and production includes from Pharrell Williams, Kanye West.
Recent Activity – Pusha T linked with Damian Lillard for adidas commercial which includes a song produced by Pharrell.
4. Travis Scott – “Utopia”
Confirmation – On October 16, 2020, Scott sent a picture of handwritten letter to numerous disc jockeys, thanking them for their support, stating:
“Thank you again! For all the support and see you guys in 2021 in UTOPIA!
Recent activity – Travis Scott partnership with PS5 has been officially confirmed. Most recently he earned his first diamond plaque for “SICKO MODE.”
3. Drake – “Certified Lover Boy”
Confirmation – On August 14, right after releasing new single “Laugh Now Cry Later” featuring Lil Durk, Drake announced the title of his upcoming studio album “Certified Lover Boy“. Later, on his own birthday, Drake shared small clip in which he confirmed “Certified Lover Boy” will arrive on January, 2021.
Recent Activity – Drake announced a collaboration with Nike which is called “Forza.”
2. J. Cole – “The Off Season” , “It’s a boy” , “The Fall Off”
Confirmation – On his previous studio album KOD, J. Cole first confirmed his next studio will be titled “The Fall Off.” Same year Cole dropped “Album of the Year” freestyle which confirmed title of a project “The Off Season”. Just few days ago, Cole revealed order of his next releases as he had placed a project’s title “It’s A Boy”.

- 1. Kendrick Lamar – “Untitled”
Confirmation – Even though there haven’t been any concrete confirmation, the L.A. based rapper is announced to perform at multiple European festivals this summer. On a recent chat with his protégé Baby Keem it was also discussed that Kendrick was planning to release his album in 2020 but had to postpone it due to pandemic.
Recent activity – Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar appeared on joint conversation for i-D magazine in October.
