Rihanna’s “ANTI” album sets new record on Billboard chart

Rihanna’s 8th studio album ANTI is #121 on this week’s Billboard 200 charts which means the album has now spent 260 weeks on the charts (more than 5 years), making Riri first black female artist to reach this milestone in Billboard history.

Two days upon its release ANTI received a platinum certification in the United States as a result of Samsung purchasing 1 million copies of the album in advance that were then given away as a free download. It was a part of the $25 million deal signed by Rihanna in back in 2015.

The album debuted at No. 27 on the Billboard 200, even though over 1.4 million copies were downloaded from Tidal, Billboard and Nielsen Music did not recognize the count of the sales, because they were distributed by Samsung. The next week, ANTI topped the chart with 166,000 equivalent album units and it scored the biggest jump on the Billboard 200 chart in eight years.
