The Crips were initially sued by Nipsey’s brother, Samiel Asghedom for attempting to trademark his brother’s phrase “The Marathon Continues.”
The feud dates back to the summer of 2019, just months after Nipsey Hussle was gunned down outside his South Los Angeles clothing shop. The Crips and Asghedom, aka Blacc Sam, had both filed trademark applications for “The Marathon Continues,” one of Nipsey’s most popular slogans. The street gang initially claimed that they would not continue with the applications due to Nipsey’s family’s appeal.
According to TMZ, both parties have reached an understanding on the matter, and the case will be dismissed.
Details of the settlement are still being kept under wraps, and it is known that a few provisions need to be ironed out until they formally shake hands on the matter. As one would expect, this has been a trying time for the family, and it’s only natural that they’d do whatever they could to protect his brand’s reputation.
