Fans might remember back in 2009 when New York based rapper Lil Mama crashed Jay-Z and Alicia Keys live performance of “Empire State Of Mind” on MTV VMAs that was being held at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
Then just 20 year old rapper’s antics closed many doors for her career afterwards, as she recently revisited the incident and revealed both Jay-Z and Alicia Keys haven’t forgave her for the embarrassing moment. Responding to a comment on her Instagram Post , Lil Mama said ( post is now deleted , check screenshot below)
“I reached out in private to create an opportunity for communication and clarity. I haven’t heard back from either party yet. With that, continuously misrepresenting my brand in public won’t be tolerated“
Jay-Z and Alicia Keys understandable weren’t pleased as both artists have said in different occasions that it was insulting.
“To interrupt that moment for us, I don’t think that was the right thing to do. It was a lot of planning that went into that performance. To disrupt that was out of line.” Jay-Z said in 2009
“We can appreciate her being overwhelmed and inspired. But we would have appreciated it if she would have did it from her seat.” – Alicia Keys said in 2009
