Cardi B has struck again and claimed yet another huge achievement in the music industry.
The 29-year-old American emcee became the first female rapper in RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) history to have two singles with diamond certification.
The RIAA award certifications are determined by the number of song and album sales. If either surpasses the 10 million mark, they become diamond certified.
Earlier in 2021, Cardi B hit this milestone with her hugely successful single “Bodak Yellow”, when it moved 10 million copies and was certified Diamond. Back then, Cardi B became the first female rapper to have a Diamond-certified song.
Following Cardi’s success, Nicki Minaj was the second female rapper to have claimed a Diamond certification for her hit single “Super Bass”.
Now, once again, Cardi B is taking the lead for becoming the first female rapper to have not one, but two songs that sold more than 10 million copies. This time, the honors were taken by the track named, “Girls Like You” which is the Cardi B and Maroon 5 collaboration.
“Girls Like You” was originally not featured by Cardi and was just a Maroon 5 single. Fortunately, the LA pop-rock band decided to include Cardi B when they re-released the album back in 2018.
Cardi B took to Twitter to celebrate this massive achievement writing:
“Wow I got two Diamond records! Thank you sooo much @maroon5 for including me on this song and this is the song I cater to my daughter every time I perform it. I’m forever grateful”
