Drake Withdraws His Grammy 2022 Nominations

As you know, Drake was nominated in two categories for the 2022 Grammys.

The Canadian Rapper was nominated for the “Best Rap Album” category for his latest project, “Certified Lover Boy”, while his single “Way 2 Sexy” was nominated in the “Best Rap Performance” category.

According to Variety, a Recording Academy representative had confirmed that Drake will be withdrawing both of his nominations. As the source claims, the rapper and his management made the choice together.

The Certified Lover Boy has been vocal in the past about his disconnection from the musical awards. Just last year, Drake spoke out about his disappointment with Grammys after The Weeknd was left out of the nominations. He even called for their replacement saying that Grammys should be replaced with “something new that we can build up over time and pass on to the generations to come.” The Canadian rapper put out a story on his Instagram that read:

“I think we should stop allowing ourselves to be shocked every year by the disconnect between impactful music and these awards and just accept that what once was the highest form of recognition may no longer matter to the artists that exist now and the ones that come after, It’s like a relative you keep expecting to fix up but they just can’t change their ways.”
