Pastor Rejects Kanye’s Status as Gospel Artist & Insults “Donda”

Kanye West is most known for his accomplishments in the hip-hop industry but over the past few years, as his faith deepens, Ye has strayed into the gospel genre.

Kanye’s past few projects such as: “Jesus is King”, “Jesus Is Born” & “Donda” alongside the Sunday Service had made the rapper favorite among Christian devotees.

On December 2nd, Ye was named “Top Gospel Artist of 2021” and “Top Christian Artist” by Billboard, cementing his place in the gospel world. Pastor Mike McClure Jr., on the other hand, is not impressed.

Pastor Mike Jr. is also a musician. He had been nominated for a total of seven Stellar Awards, even winning a handful of them. The Stellar Award is given to individuals who have made significant contributions to the gospel music industry.

When The Shade Room Church posted Kanye’s news on Instagram, the pastor couldn’t hide his feelings.

“Kanye West isn’t a Gospel Artist. He is a rapper who did a gospel album.” Wrote Pastor Mike Jr., adding:  “Ye is an inspiration musically PERIOD. So many people are afraid to speak truth for fear of being canceled! Something about this does not feel right, and I believe we have to speak up.”

But that wasn’t the end of it. After rejecting Kanye’s status, the preacher also called Ye’s recent album “demonic,” writing:

“As cool as the Donda listening party was it felt so demonic”
