Playboi Carti discusses potential collab album with Lil Uzi Vert, Tech N9ne Influence, & Co-Parenting with Iggy Azalea

In a recent interview with XXL, Playboi Carti discussed his future album, the idea of collaborating with Lil Uzi Vert, his partnership with Iggy Azalea, how he feels about his fans being compared to a cult, and how much Tech N9ne influenced him.

Playboi Carti is one of Rap’s most diverse performers. Carti’s style has developed throughout the years, and with each new alteration, the rapper captures the public’s attention. With his devoted fanbase, Carti supporters are often compared to a “cult.” In an interview, the 25-year-old rapper discusses the significance of expressing oneself, as well as his followers’ support for the idea of “being yourself.”

“You got emos. You got goths. With me, I’m just being myself and I feel like there are a lot of people who really want to be themselves and do different things,” he said. “That is the reason why it’s a cult because everybody isn’t going to understand and I understand. And when they see me, especially when I was coming up, they are like, “Damn, Carti looks just like me.” A regular Atlanta n***a.”

Carti talked about the importance of accepting people and said that he doesn’t “give a damn” about what others may think: “I wouldn’t give a f*ck because it’s like, I love everybody. I don’t judge anybody.”

When asked how Tech N9ne affected him as an artist and as a person, King Vamp replied:

“Tech N9ne, he’s the pioneer of what I got going on right now. When it comes to having a cult following, embracing yourself, and sticking to your vision, Tech N9ne is the pioneer of that. […] I just like how he’s consistent, I like his vision… People like him are before their time, you know what I’m saying? He’s a genius and I’m a genius, so that’s how I see it.”

Playboi Carti joined A$AP Rocky’s AWGE label in 2015 and has since released three albums. Now, as he prepares to put out his next project, Music, Carti claims he’s got plenty of topics to tackle. The musician also revealed that his long-awaited collaboration with Lil Uzi Vert may still have a future.

“Uzi is working on mad music right now. I do not know if he’s serious about a lot of things. But I hope one day we can change the world with that, for sure.”

In terms of his personal life, the Atlanta rapper expressed his love for his family, as well as Iggy Azalea, with whom he shares a son, Onyx.

“And Iggy [Azalea], she is a great mom. I love her to death. I am single. She’s single now. But that is one of the best mothers in the world. You got to put it in the book, you hear me? I love her to death. She is the best mother in the world,” he said.
