Eminem refused to do Super Bowl halftime show without 50 Cent, according to Jay-Z.

Yesterday (April 16), Snoop Dogg appeared on Drink Champs, where the crew discussed the Super Bowl halftime show and N.O.R.E disclosed a chat he had with Jay-Z, who did everything possible to bring the hip-hop legends to the world’s largest platform. The initial lineup for this year’s Super Bowl halftime concert included: Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem and Mary J. Blige. During the event, 50 Cent and Anderson Paak also made an appearance despite not being included in the commercial that introduced the lineup.

According to N.O.R.E, Eminem was the one who insisted that 50 Cent appear on the show. N.O.R.E disclosed the following while discussing the Super Bowl show with Snoop:

“I said to [Jay-Z], ‘Yo, listen, I have to ask somebody straight up, who is the people that’s on NFL?’ and he said to me, ‘The white guy called for 50 Cent.’ So, I said, ‘Who is the white guy?’ I’m thinking it’s Jimmy Iovine, and he said, ‘No, Eminem called directly for Fifty and he[Eminem] said, ‘I can’t do it if I can’t bring Fifty on.”

“That’s his guy. And guess who’s Dre’s guy? It’s me!” Snoop relied.

N.O.R.E added later in the interview: “The white guy, the white dude called to make sure Fifty was there.”
