The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame has announced its inductees for the 2022 today and Rap icon Eminem is one of the inductees on the list. A fan ballot was held for the nominees back in February this year which was closed just last Friday with nearly 5 million votes.
Eminem garnered 634K votes and ended up second on the fan ballot, meanwhile, Rock musician Duran Duran was top on the fan voting with 934K total votes. Apart from fans, the honorees are also voted by 1000 artists, historians, and music industry professionals “each had a profound impact on the sound of youth culture and helped change the course of rock ’n’ roll,” told John Sykes, the chairman of the Rock Hall, in a statement.
A Tribe Called Quest were the other Hip-Hop acts nominee with Eminem but they couldn’t finish into the final lists which include Duran Duran, Dolly Parton , Lionel Richie, Carly Simon, Eurythmics, and Pat Benatar.
Eminem who becomes the 10th Hip-Hop act to be inducted into the coveted Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame has appeared twice in the induction ceremony for Run DMC back in 2009 and for LL Cool J just last year. It will be interesting to see who will induct the Rap God from Detroit into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame.
