Kanye West has been hit with a latest lawsuit ,from Bishop David Paul Moten of Texas. Moten claims that Hip-Hop star Kanye has used his sermon on his album ‘Donda’ cut.
Kanye’s song ‘Come To Life’ off Donda has borrowed Bishop’s sermon as intro and used it throughout the 5 minutes 10 seconds track. The song also includes credits from Tyler The Creator as a writer and Twisco ,Mike Dean as co-producers but there’s no credit to Bishop Moten or his congregation.
The intro speaks “My soul cries out Hallelujah and I thank God for saving me ,I thank God for…” and the rest of sermon is looped in background of the track. According to Moten that his speech is used for 20 perecent of the track.
Bishop Moten has also claimed he’s going after U.MG , G.O.O.D Music , Def Jam Recordings and accused Kanye plus the whole music industry “willfully and egregiously sampling sound recordings of others without consent or permission.”
The sample used throughout the song is from a recording of a church congregation recorded in Victoria, Texas in 2011. You can hear it below:
