While there has been an increase in the number of LGBTQ+ musicians in the hip-hop industry, most of them have been free to talk openly about their sexuality to their audiences on their own terms. Unfortunately for Isaiah Rashad, that decision was taken away from him when hackers released a sex tape with him and another man online. Now, the TDE rapper is finally speaking up.
Rashad talked about an alleged sex tape during a long interview with Joe Budden. The video, which went viral on social media in February, generated a wide spectrum of opinions. While some were critical and homophobic, others expressed their love and sympathy for the artist.
During the interview, Joe Budden was blunt when he questioned the 31-year-old rapper about his sexuality.
“I would say I am sexually fluid,” Rashad told Budden. “I am still learning about it myself. I am putting my head in the books to find out the basics of it. But basically, I am not in full control when I walk into the room who I am attracted to. […] I am more attracted to a personality. I am more attracted, sometimes, to the intellect.”
The Tennessee rapper revealed that he has been exploring his sexuality for a few years.
“It’s been a gradual thing over the past couple of years,” he said. “I have had a couple of experiences. Just like, dating and hanging out and, honestly just trying different things. Things I didn’t expect I would be trying.”
Isaiah also disclosed that he is now in a loving, committed relationship. Budden then inquired about Rashad’s family’s reaction to the sex tape, particularly whether he had to clarify the situation to his children.
“Nah, my kid’s six, man, and eight. No, we do Roblox,” he explained.

The TDE rapper also explained that he’s not planning on taking any legal action against the person who released the sex tape.
“I haven’t even been thinking about it,” he said. Isaiah even stated that the incident, along with everything else that was going on in his life at the time, helped to bring his family closer together. “I always gotta look at the brighter side of stuff.”
