Post Malone made his debut on The Howard Stern Show this week, where he spoke openly about his unconventional approach to songwriting.
The 36-year-old rapper admitted that most of his songs are written while he’s on the toilet.
“Sh*t literally comes to me because I write all my songs on the can,” he told Howard. “I would say about 30 percent of all my albums have been written on the sh*tter. And I would say 60 percent of lyrics have been written on the sh*tter.”
The New York rapper went on to say that he may spend up to two hours on the toilet writing lyrics and that he has a specific notepad for the purpose.
“I have a notepad. So it is not the iPhone notes or the iTunes notes or whatever it is. I have a special notepad off to the side where I can write my sh*t. […] It is my special zone because no one wants to come to talk to you while you are taking a sh*t. No one. I do not care who it is. […] I would not say it is a hideaway as much as it is an oasis.”
