DJ Premier reveals Dr. Dre didn’t let 50 Cent collaboration happen

New York’s legendary producer DJ Premier has released a new EP celebrating 50 years of Hip-Hop with features from heavy hitters like Lil Wayne, Nas, Remy Ma, Joey Badass, and more. To talk about the project Preemo joined Breakfast Club where he also discussed a story involving none other than 50 Cent.

DJ Premier tells he left Terror Squad because he wanted to release his first single featuring 50 Cent. “This was when everybody didn’t want to mess with Fif to the fullest because he was having so much drama after doing ‘How To Rob” remembers the veteran Producer.

Preemo tells that 50 Cent agreed to do the record as they immediately clicked over the phone call. Unfortunately for DJ Premier right around that time Aftermath/Interscope signed the buzzing Rapper 50 Cent. Preemo reveals Dr. Dre called him and told him “Preem I love you but he’s (50 Cent) not doing any more recording until he does his debut album”.

50 cent will then went to release his major label debut album ‘Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ executive produced by Dr. Dre and Eminem and making him a superstar. Preemo says to this day he tells 50 Cent you still owe me that track.
