Dr. Dre pulled off a huge event for Hip-Hop earlier this year at SuperBowl Halftime when he teamed up with his proteges Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Mary J Blige, and 50 Cent for a mega show. According to Dre himself, he had doubts about going forward with this show cause of appearing as a “sell-out” but another two legends stepped in and encouraged him to do it.
During his appearance at Dolvett Quince’s podcast ‘Workout The Doubt’, Dr. Dre tells that he wasn’t convinced to do the SuperBowl Halftime Show until Nas and Jay-Z stepped in. Dre imitated Nas’s voice and explains how Nas called him to do it
“Yo bro you gotta do it. This is gonna be so powerful for f***n Hip-Hop for the culture, for you, for L.A… We were on phone for like 10 minutes and he convinced me on doing it” says Dre “Nas and Jay-Z were big reasons i decided to do the show”. Watch Dr. Dre’s clip below:
