5 Hip-Hop Albums Expected to Drop in 2023

Travis Scott- ‘UTOPIA’

Travis Scott has been hinting about Utopia since July 2020, after his single “FRANCHISE,” featuring Young Thug and M.I.A., topped the Billboard Hot 100. The project has been highly anticipated for some time, however, its release date has been delayed due to the fatal Astroworld Festival crowd crush in late 2021.

In November 2021, Travis dropped two songs from the album, “Mafia” and “Espace Plan.”

‘Utopia’ will be Travis Scott’s 4th studio album, after ‘Rodeo’, ‘Birds In The Trap Sing Brian McKnight’, and ‘Astroworld’. Every release by the 31-year-old rapper has gone platinum.

‘Utopia’ is set to be released in early 2023 through Cactus Jack Records and Epic Records.

Drake- ‘Scary Hours 3’

The third part of the Scary Hours series is Scary Hours 3. The EP is expected to be released in 2023.

Following the release of his seventh studio album, “Honestly, Nevermind,” Drake said during a TABLE FOR ONE radio appearance that he is working on the third chapter of Scary Hours, saying:

“I got another Scary Hours pack coming too in a little bit. Maybe not right now… but I have a Scary Hours. I am gonna slap some head tops off with this Scary Hours pack.”

Drizzy has had a busy 2022. The Canadian rapper released two albums in one year, ‘Honestly, Nevermind’ and ‘Her Loss,’ a collaboration with 21 Savage.

J. Cole- ‘It’s a Boy’

Rapper J. Cole hinted at the release of a new project by deleting all of his Instagram material. The last time Cole wiped his Instagram of all content, we got a new single, “Middle Child.” The 37-year-old rapper also emptied his Instagram account just before the unexpected release of his fifth studio album, “KOD,” in 2018.

‘It’s A Boy’ has been highly anticipated since Cole stated it will be his next solo album while chatting with Kevin Durant on his podcast, “The ETCs,” in 2022.

Although no tracks or a release date have been announced, some fans have speculated that the album will be released on J. Cole’s birthday, January 28.

Playboi Carti- ‘Music’

Playboi Carti revealed the working title for his upcoming album, “Music,” during an interview with XXL magazine.

During an interview with XXL, Carti said:

“I was about to name my album Music because that’s where I’m at, you know what I’m saying?… Music because that is all it is at this point.”

‘Music’ will be Carti’s 3rd studio album after ‘Die Lit’ and ‘Whole Lotta Red.’

A$AP Rocky- ‘Don’t Be Dumb’

A$AP Rocky has already teased 3 songs from the upcoming project ‘Don’t Be Dumb.’ The New York rapper performed all three tracks during the 2 Chainz’s Amazon Music Live concert in late 2022.

ASAP also revealed that the upcoming project takes inspiration from Metro Boomin, “This next album needs to be just called Flacko Boomin, you hear me,” he told GQ.

While Rocky has not given a precise release date for the Album, he has stated that the project is finished. “My album is done, don’t be dumb, let’s go,” he said during a Thursday Night Football commercial break on December 9, 2022.
