Kendrick Lamar ranked among Top 10 Best Singers of 21st Century

Yes, it’s not clickbait you’ve read that right….!! British-based daily newspaper The Times has unveiled a list of the Top 20 Best Singers of the 21st century and one of the shocking names for many fans in the list is none other than Compton’s own Kendrick Lamar.

  • The new century is proving no less abundant when it comes to singers who can wrestle a song to the floor and ravish us in the process. “ said The Times.

The Westcoast emcee who is often regarded as one of the greatest Rappers of his generation has now been included in the list of the best 20 solo singers of this century. The publication acknowledged Kendrick’s jazz and funk-influenced music which was the main theme of his 2015 Grammy Winning album “To Pimp A Butterfly”.

The Times ranked Kendrick at #10 while writing about him “With his roots firmly planted in rapping, Lamar’s not afraid of drastic experimentation; his enigmatic songs are often plunged into the depths of funk and jazz, turning them into pulsing party anthems.”

Interestingly The Times ranked the likes of Rihanna (#11), Taylor Swift (#14), and Bruno Mars (#13) below Kendrick in the list, while the late singer Amy Winehouse was ranked at the top. Apart from Kendrick, Lizzo was the only other artist known for their Rapping too was present on the list
