Rihanna, Drake, & More Congratulate LeBron James on Breaking NBA Record

LeBron James is celebrated all around after his record-breaking performance against Oklahoma City Thunder last night.

The 38-year-old basketball star hit 38 points in a 130-133 losing game, breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record for the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, set in April 1984.

With 10.9 seconds remaining on the clock in the third quarter, King James surpassed Abdul-Jabbar’s mark of 38,387 points. The game was paused to celebrate James’ accomplishment with the fans, while Kareem himself stood courtside and applauded the Lakers’ star.

Since LeBron’s record-breaking performance, congratulations have been pouring in. Friends, family, competitors, and a number of A-list celebrities, including Rihanna, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, and Steph Curry have all sent loving messages to the 38-year-old athlete.

“I am so grateful to witness this moment in history,” says Rihanna in a video dedicated to celebrating James’ accomplishment, adding, “My favorite thing about being a LeBron James fan is just watching you prove yourself over and over again, against all odds and all doubt.”
“What a legendary night in NBA history. You’re breaking the all-time scoring record,” says Drake in the same clip
“It’s always fun watching a Laker get it done,” says Snoop Dogg while wearing the Los Angeles Lakers jersey.
Kendrick Lamar also had a message for the King of basketball, “Bron, what’s up dawg,” he says. “From the time you went to the league when you had the doubters and the naysayers and people that think you wouldn’t take it this far, you proved them wrong.”

Drake, a close friend of LeBron, shared the full part of his speech and dedicated a story to James on Instagram, which reads:

“Congratulations my brother. They probably will have something new to say tmrw but for now, enjoy the praise which is like silence to us.”
