Fans of the former Migos member may have noticed the Atlanta Rap star has been giving a lot of tributes to the late King Of Pop Michael Jackson for the better part of the year. Whether it’s costume or music videos, tattoos, and now on his upcoming album “SET IT OFF”‘s cover art, Offset has continuously paid homage to Michael Jackson.
The music video for “Fan,” which Offset released simultaneously with his album announcement, includes references to Michael Jackson’s Thriller era and nods to his iconic music videos “Thriller,” “Billie Jean,” “Smooth Criminal,” and Jackson’s performance at Motown 25.
In a press release for his latest single “Fan” Offset tells why he is inspired by MJ “I feel like Michael Jackson coming from a successful group breaking records to superstardom on my own. This body of work is healing for me and a letter to my fans and supporters.” said Offset drawing similarities to his former group Migos disbanding with Michael Jackson leaving his group Jackson 5 or The Jacksons.
After releasing their final album Culture 3 back in 2021 Offset and Takeoff the other members of the trio Migos, announced they would be going their separate ways to form a duo Unc and Phew. Later Takeoff was shot down after the release of the first album of the duo.
Offset has been releasing singles with MoneyBagg Yo , Cardi B and gearing up to release his second studio album “Set It Off” on October 13th under Motown Records. “I’ve been working on this project for over two years now. This season is personal for me. It marks a new chapter in my life,” said Offset
