CyHi the Prynce addresses Travis Scott, Kid Cudi and the breakup of G.O.O.D. Music on his new track, “The G.O.O.D. Ole Days.”

On Friday (March 6), CyHi the Prynce released his latest single, “The G.O.O.D. Ole Days,” where he reflects on his history with artists from Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music label and explains what led to the collective’s eventual split.

Over production from Mark Byrd and Phil Blackman, the Georgia lyricist methodically details his fallout with several former labelmates, including Travis Scott and Kid Cudi. According to CyHi, his friendship with Travis began to deteriorate after he was unable to secure a guest verse from the Houston rapper, despite helping write one of his biggest records, “Sicko Mode.”

“I like what he did in fashion, but ni**a just look hella tacky,” he raps. “When I helped him with his album, it went like [11-times] platinum, but I still ain’t got my swap and he mad that I’m even askin’.”

CyHi also addresses his strained relationship with Kid Cudi, suggesting that tensions grew after he chose to stand by Kanye West during a previous dispute involving the Man on the Moon artist.

“It could have got real ugly/They said that Ye almost fk around and killed buddy,” he raps. “And that’s why they relationship is still muddy/And I’m caught between it all. Man, nia should feel for me.”

While discussing Kanye West’s role in the label’s downfall, CyHi admits that Ye’s leadership style may have contributed to G.O.O.D. Music’s breakup. However, he also expresses understanding for the Chicago artist, noting the challenges of trying to manage a roster of strong personalities.

“Okay, I understand that. But you know sometimes Kanye could be a little difficult/I get it, but I understand him in a different way/Y’all just know the beautiful dark twisty Ye,” he lyrically explains.

“He’s just an honest person, but it gets conveyed as somebody with a broken heart against the 808/I ain’t going to lie/Sometimes it gets in the business way/He just ain’t afraid to say what you didn’t say.”

Toward the end of the song, CyHi also reveals that a new album is on the way, telling listeners that his upcoming project, The Story of Mr. EGOT, will arrive “real soon.”
